Casey at the Bat

Casey at the Bat is based on the well-known poem of the same title by Ernest L. Thayer in the late 1800s. This musical version of the famous story was commissioned by the Dallas Symphony, followed by the composer arranging the work for wind ensemble at the request of Col. Michael Colburn, director of the “President’s Own” Marine Band in Washington, DC. I was commissioned to make this arrangement for my good friend Casey Delsandro’s senior bassoon recital.

Premiered 04/24/25 in Hockett Recital Hall at Ithaca College. Full credits in YouTube video description. What a fun piece!

The Christmas Cantata

Rev. Dr. Lena McLin (1928-2023) was a prolific composer and educator and her Christmas Cantata has finally been recorded on stage, decades after its publication. This realization is thanks to Dr. Khyle Wooten’s vision and passion for bringing this music to a larger audience to share the work of underrepresented composers. I had the honor of orchestrating the accompaniment as well as stitching together the themes throughout the piece to craft an original overture for this renaissance performance and I am thrilled to be able to share it! Bravo to an outstanding performance by the Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers.

Premiered 12/08/24 in Ford Hall at Ithaca College by the Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers and DCJS’ orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Baruch Whitehead and Dr. Khyle Wooten.
